"Johnny B. Goode," written and performed by Chuck Berry, from the Voyager phonograph record. The Voyager phonograph records are 12-inch gold-plated copper disks containing sounds and images selected to portray life on Earth to extra-terrestrials who may encounter the spacecraft. The identical Voyagers 1 and 2 were launched in 1977 and are currently much farther away from Earth and the sun than Pluto. It will be around 40,000 years before the spacecraft make a close approach to any other planetary system. In a memorable Saturday Night Live segment, it was announced by Steve Martin that the first message from extraterrestrials was being received. Once decoded, the message stated, "Send more Chuck Berry."
