About Phonezoo
What is Phonezoo?
Phonezoo is a service that helps people create custom mobile content and
send it to their phone for free. We offer a destination where people can discover and
create personalized content for mobile devices.
What does Phonezoo really cost?
We do not charge users for our service. Creating, storing or sharing ringtones or photos on
Phonezoo does not cost anything . Keep in mind that only non-copyrighted material
can be shared. For the content marked copyright,
we ask you to upload your copy of the song. We make money when people click on
advertisements on our site and buy products from our preferred vendors.
Charges from your carrier will occur just like when you download anything on the phone from the web. Many people have internet access on the phone as a part of the monthly plan. If you don't, your carrier may charge you for internet access to download the ringtone. You may also get charged for the text messages. The text message charges are usually 10c and internet access is around 1c/kb i.e. a typical ringtone download will cost about 60c-70c. Many calling plans these days have both messaging and internet access included - you should check your specific plan to see what is included.
Phonezoo does not charge for this service, but standard or other charges may apply from your carrier. Please check your plan to make sure. To stop receiving text messages at anytime, text STOP to 44636. T-Mobile users: For help, text HELP to 44636 or email support@4info.net.
Do I pay any wireless carrier charges?
We send the content to your phone over your wireless carrier's network which is very convenient.
No cables, no bluetooth setup, etc.
So, to use Phonezoo you need to have text messaging (PIX messaging for Verizon and Alltel)
and internet (in the case of Verizon, PIX messaging) access on your phone.
You pay normal carrier charges for the use of those services.
Please see Phones/Carrier Support for more information.
What countries do you support?
We are constantly working to add additional countries and carriers. Please check the drop-down menu for specific carriers and countries.
How do I contact support?
Please use the Support/Feedback link at the top of each page

Phones/Carrier Support
I have a LG VX5200 or LG VX8100 on Verizon & it does not work - can you make it work for me?
Unfortunately, Verizon does not allow us to support your phone at this time. The LG VX8100 or LG VX5200 on Verizon does not allow downloaded tones to be set as ringtones. Verizon has disabled this feature and we cannot change this setting. If you are due for a new phone, you might consider getting a LG Chocolate or LG VX8300 or Samsung SPH-A670, all of which work fine with Phonezoo.
I got a new phone or changed my number. Do I have to delete and start over?
Not at all. Its very easy to change any information associated with your phone.
Go to MyZoo and click on the 'Edit My Phone' link below the MyZoo tab.
This will take you to a webpage where you can update any information related to the phone on your Phonezoo account, including model and phone number. You may need to verify your phone again. The system will walk you through steps to update your account. No need to delete and start again.
How are ringtones downloaded to my phone?
We send a text message with a link to a WAP page (similar to a web page) that has the content for you to
download. In the case of Verizon and Alltel, we instead send a multimedia message.
If you don't understand any of this, no worries! We provide step-by-step instructions to help you
through the process.
What do I need to use Phonezoo?
You need the following to be able to use Phonezoo:
- A mobile phone that can support truetone (also called mastertone or musictone) formats for ringtones. If your
phone can support MP3, WAVE, QCP or AMR for ringtones, you are covered. If you don't know for sure, go ahead and register. We will
tell you (in most cases) if your phone will work or not.
- A mobile phone where the carrier has not disabled functionality to download or set 3rd party provider ringtones.
For example, some Verizon phones and all NEXTEL phones do not work because of this. If you don't know for sure, go ahead and register. We will
tell you (in most cases) if your phone will work or not.
- A mobile phone that has text messaging and internet access enabled. In the case of Verizon, you need text messaging and
PIX messaging capabilities. While Phonezoo is free, you do pay normal messaging and internet charges to your wireless carrier.
Why is my phone not supported?
We are sorry! If you are in this situation, you probably have
- a phone that does not support truetones OR
- a carrier who does not allow third party content providers to work with your phone, e.g. Nextel OR
- a carrier who has crippled your phone, e.g. some models of V3 RAZR on Verizon
You are welcome to try to make it work. If you do, please do drop us a note at Support/FeedbackDo you support Centennial/US Cellular or other carriers? I am on one of these - will Phonezoo work for my phone?
We rely on messaging system from the carrier or WAP access to deliver the tones. Currently we have an implementation with several US and international carriers and are hard at work to add new carrier support. Please stay tuned.
For carriers not listed, please try the following steps to see if WAP access works for you - Here are WAP instructions
Step 1. Go to MyZoo, Click on 'Edit My Phone' (you can do this while setting up the account as well)
Step 2. Select "Not Listed" as carrier
Step 3. Select "WAP" as delivery method
Send some tones to your phone. Now do the following on the phone -

Step 4. Bookmark the page to avoid having to log in every time
Step 5. Select the ringtone you want to download from MyZoo.

What are you doing to prevent copyrighted content from appearing in Phonezoo?
Since all content on Phonezoo is posted by our members, we make it clear in our terms
of use and at the time of upload that they must own the copyright to the ringtones they
post or have paid access to copyrighted content for use in another media. In addition to the user selection, we are the only ringtone site to have deployed industry-leading signature technology to determine the copyright. We take copyright
issues very seriously and encourage copyright holders to contact us if they have any
objections about specific ringtones - we will cooperate with them to take down any
infringing content immediately. Repeat and flagrant offenders of the terms of use are
addressed with proprietary technology.
How do I report copyright issues?
Use the "REPORT" button on the ringtone details page. When you hit
this button, it takes you to a page where you can specifiy reasons on why you
think the copyright marking should be modified. Please be as detailed as possible.

We'll let you know if we receive a copyright complaint about any of your ringtone
content that is hosted on Phonezoo. We'll also give you the opportunity to file a DMCA
counter-notification.
