Scorpio monthly horoscope
March 2013

Scorpio
10/23 - 11/21
Va-va-voom, Scorpio! March begins with a slew of planets (the bold Sun, expressive Mercury, magnetic Venus, spicy Mars and swooning Neptune) in Pisces, your fifth house of romance, passion and creativity. This girl (or guy) is on fire, baby. Whether you're grabbing a latte, picking up a bouquet of spring flowers or flirting shamelessly, you have a serious lust for life this month, while the Sun visits Pisces until March 20. If you haven't been feeling like your sexy self, just wait-you'll be turning heads without trying. The March 11 Pisces new moon is a banner day for new love, or even a pregnancy, since the fifth house rules fertility.
With communication planet Mercury retrograde (backward) in Pisces, until March 17, you may experience a few unexpected twists in your emotional life. Perhaps an ex returns to the scene, stirring up needless drama or confusion. Or maybe you're the firing up the sparks, unable to keep your own strong feelings in check. Be careful if there's been something hurtful on the tip of your tongue, o' vengeful one-you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. If you're an artist or musician, you may have some difficulty with a contract, or even hit a patch of creative block. Since retrogrades favor going back to the past, perhaps you want to dig through your own archives and pick up a half-finished or abandoned piece.
Amid the rapture and roses, there's also reflection and rebuilding. Serious Saturn is retrograde (backward) in Scorpio, your first house of personal goals, until July 7, causing you to rethink the identity you reveal to the world. As buoyant as you may feel in some areas, you're also feeling bound up in others (and not in the fun, Fifty Shades of Grey way you might appreciate). With Saturn in your sign from October 2012-September 2015, you're in the midst of a huge reinvention, and that's not always so comfortable, especially when you realize that certain ways you operate don't serve you anymore. If you're slow to make the necessary changes, you could get some tough or humbling lessons that put any egoistic or false fronts in proper check. For example, you're sure your colleagues will sign on to your new brilliant plan, only to find them shrugging their shoulders (and nothing burns you more than apathy...). Don't get discouraged if a new project doesn't soar through the approval process. Saturn retrograde is a great testing phase or time to go back to the drawing board. Maybe you're not ready for the big debut-but the work you do will prep you for a whole new league. It may be tough, but it will be worth it!
There will be moments when you feel exhausted-and see the strain in the mirror. Mature Saturn doing backstrokes in your first house of appearances can make you feel like you look "old" or tired-or cause stress to show up more in your expression (no matter how much anti-aging eye cream you purchase). Don't freak out, Scorpio-and for goodness sake, stay away from the scalpels and radical injections. This is not an advisable time to make drastic alterations to your face and hair. Sure, Scorpio Winona Ryder looked adorable with a pixie cut back in the '90s, but you may end up regretting chopping your locks TOO short-or feeling like that filler makes you look like an entirely different person...to the point where your mother doesn't recognize you. Eek!
That said, it's not a bad time to polish up the rough edges of your look. Just avoid anything severe, else you'll be hiding out in oversized sunglasses until you're back to normal. A few years ago, we warned a Virgo friend not to undergo a facelift during Saturn retrograde in her sign. She listened-and because of that, discovered that the surgeon she almost used had a sketchy track record. Plus, she almost flew off to Thailand ALONE for the procedure and painful recovery. What on earth was she thinking? These types of decisions are worth the extra consideration and research.
In fact, now is not the time to transform yourself from the outside in, but the opposite. Your best bet is to do things that make you exceedingly happy, but in a natural, more organic way. When the Sun moves into Aries on March 20, your sixth house of health and wellness warms up, inspiring you to get your inner glow on via a daily green juice, extra helpings of vegetables or a shiny new health club membership. The last week of the month, four planets gather in Aries, a cosmic highlighter of sorts, underlining all the nitty-gritty details of your life to make sure that things are running as smoothly as possible.
This streamlining mandate will help make room for a big epiphany or surrender at month's end, when a March 27 full moon Libra lights up your twelfth house of the subconscious, hidden information and closure. This will be an illuminating full moon, which means you'll see things that have been masked from your awareness: including your own anxieties, addictive patterns or subconscious quirks. On the positive side, this healing full moon could bring a spiritual or creative breakthrough. A mentor or "guardian angle" type may emerge to lend amazing support just as you need it.
However, there may also be some ripples in the ranks of Team Scorpio as a result of this full moon-as it will reveal both shadows and light. You may hear some unsettling news about someone you thought was a trusted ally, but really isn't (or can't be due to his/her own messy life circumstances). Despite the ouch-factor, in the end, this is a positive development, because it helps you sort out who's got your back. The moon is also opposite tension-fueled Mars and unpredictable Uranus in Aries, your sixth house of efficiency and organization, and square (a tense, 45-degree angle) to shadowy Pluto in Capricorn, your third house of communication. In the heat of the moment, you may utter something you later regret, deeply. Watch the words you put in writing, too, and the all-or-nothing declarations, as you may not be thinking straight.
Besides, in the emotional swell of this moon, things may not be what they seem...especially since those around you could be playing power games or you could be at the mercy of your own subconscious imaginings. Are you being paranoid or seeing things as they truly are? It might take a couple days to really sort that out. Use your extraordinary powers of perception to read between the lines and take your time making a move. Before you sign on to (or off of) any relationship or situation, get all details and information-and take a few days to process them. Because your subconscious mind IS so active now, it might be best to meditate, do a retreat or yoga workshop, or just hole up and catch up on sleep. You may be emotional frazzled and burnt out-but still, you keep pushing past your limits. Take a break Scorpio, especially at this full moon.
Love
Poetry, passion, whispering sweet nothings ...this month, you have a romantic revival (and five planets) in Pisces, your fifth house of love and attraction. You could have your head in the clouds, since dreamy Venus and Neptune are both firing up this sector of your chart, along with sexy Mars, revving your love engines until March 11. That same day, the Pisces new moon could spark new love, or a passionate attraction could blossom in a spectacular way. If you're ready for a fresh start in your love life, this is the day. To boost your powers of attraction, you may need to do something bold-perhaps surrender your "no online dating" policy. While you may feel cheesy setting up your profile, with all the outward declarations of what you're looking for, i.e. someone who likes to dissect psychological thrillers and can spend hours gazing into your intense eyes, you must try. The stars are rarely THIS aligned for your love life, Scorpio, so release some control-scary as that may sound-and take a chance already. In doing something that makes you a little uncomfortable, you're actually sending out the signal to the universe that you're ready to risk opening your heart. Who knows? The week you set up your profile, you may cross paths with your soulmate on the sidewalk, as you're rushing to work (or at least, that's the story you can tell at your wedding).
Meantime, with sober Saturn retrograde in Scorpio until July 7, you're questioning everything about yourself-who you are, what you need, what truly makes you happy. (Single Scorpios might revise said online profile several times over, as you get clearer on this.) Perhaps you're harboring some secret self-doubts, or not feeling so great about the way you look. Instead of rushing off to Saks or Barneys, perhaps you should consider a makeunder, ditching the heavy foundation, plunging necklines and sky-high wedges for the time being.
Nothing is sexier than a Scorpio who knows how hot she is, sans adornment. Ask yourself: if all that extra "stuff" was stripped away, would you feel as good as you do when you're clutching your Bottega Veneta bag or whatever form of fashion armor you use? It's time to build confidence from within, Scorpio-worthwhile work to do over the next five months. Challenge yourself with your dependencies...whether it's that bad boy who boosts your self-esteem or your $400/month Sephora addiction. This reflection pays off at the end of the month, when a March 27 Libra full moon illuminates your twelfth house of karmic ties, possibly ushering in a soul mate connection. There could be a pregnancy or perhaps a meeting that has "predestined" written all over it, something beautifully and divinely orchestrated. As Pisces author David Foster Wallace once said, "Almost nothing important that ever happens to you happens because you engineer it. Destiny has no beeper; destiny always leans trenchcoated out of an alley with some sort of 'psst' that you usually can't even hear because you're in such a rush to or from something important you've tried to engineer." So, let go, Scorpio. Let love find YOU.
On this full moon, if you've been grieving over lost love, you could get some comforting, much-needed closure. Or maybe you need to switch gears, leaving behind a codependent vibe with your partner to safely steer your relationship to healthier ground. Maybe your M.O. has been to partner up with someone who appears needier than you, so that you can maintain your illusion of control and be less threatened than if you'd chosen to partner with your equal. But does it serve you in the long run to be with someone who is disempowered? Probably not, since you may find it hard to respect the person who caves every three seconds, or whenever you decide to call the shots. On this full moon, you may finally loosen your grip, allowing your honey to step into his/her own power. Health
"Another round, please!" This could easily be your indulgent mantra, as a cluster of planets in your hedonistic fifth house give your willpower the boot. If another glass of Malbec or a second helping of hazelnut gelato makes you feel better in the moment, you're all for it. Perhaps you gave up smoking recently, only to fall off the tobacco wagon. Don't bother trying to cheerlead yourself out of bad habits now; just enjoy. You'll return to healthier habits naturally after March 20, when the purposeful Sun moves into Aries, your sixth house of health and wellness. The last week of the month, four planets will be in this sign, including go-getter Mars, beautifying Venus and innovative Uranus. You'll have all the motivation you need to swap Beaujolais for beet juice. Until then, bottoms up.
Feeling too harried to get to the gym? No need to leave home, Scorpio. Check out Appcession's (www.appcession.com) iPhone and iPad apps by world-class fitness leaders-including yoga, Pilates, kettlebells and more. Having a health-oriented activity just a touch away will calm your frazzled nerves. And, hey, you never know when you might need insta-calm, in the form of soothing mantras and short but effective workouts you can do from the comfort of your house or hotel room.
With all this change swirling within and without, you may need to take a retreat at the March 27 Libra full moon, which shines a light on your twelfth house of rest and endings. Easy does it, Scorpio-even if that means bailing from a marathon or bowing out of a charity project that's zapping your already drained reserves. Maybe you need to have an important conversation with a sibling or pal for closure-and if you do, just be careful not to start pointing fingers and blaming each other for past misdeeds. Instead of getting caught up in a futile "he said/she said"-style argument, make it your goal to leave no stone unturned. If you're both going to move on, this is what needs to happen, after all. Beware of projection, since that possibility is strong right now. If you're pouring all your energy into proving how wronged you've been, think twice and take responsibility for your own stuff. (Hey, we all have our Louis Vuitton-grade baggage...but that doesn't make it okay to unconsciously ask other people to carry it for you.) If you recognize a dynamic as hopelessly codependent, be brave enough to cut it off, sending the other person off into the world with love, gratitude and a final farewell.

Wealth
Speak up, Scorpio! Though you're normally tight-lipped when it comes to revealing your deepest feelings, you have the urge to express yourself, as a small army of planets gather in Pisces, the sector of your chart that rules childlike play, joy and creativity. Your imagination is fired up and the stars are supporting creative risk-taking now. Perhaps you want to cut down on your workload to make room for your inner culture-vulture to soak up inspiration at the bookstore, theater or by taking in inspiring creations. You might even consider signing up for an improv or acting class-or take a small role in a film or theater production. Or maybe you rearrange your schedule to spend more time with the children in your life, who get you back in touch with your own sense of wonder. Their infectious energy will rub off on you in unexpected ways and remind you of the benefits of being completely unfettered, kicking self-consciousness to the curb.
On March 11, a Pisces new moon gives you the nod to launch a creative venture or speak openly about your ideas and feelings. However, communicator Mercury is retrograde (backward) until March 17, so you might want to wait a week-or at least double and triple check your work. Tap into the optimism of the day by declaring your most heartfelt desires, but wait until mischievous Mercury is direct (forward) to actually implement your plans. The more you work with the cautious energy at hand, the better shot you have at grabbing the brass ring. Forewarned is forearmed, Scorpio.
Even as your imagination lights up like a pinball machine, you're still grappling with some serious questions about your place in the world, as realist Saturn is retrograde in Scorpio from February 18 to July 7. During this five-month stretch, you may find yourself going back to the drawing board and reevaluating what you're meant to do this next stage of your life. Yes, you're striving toward some goals, but are they truly the best use of your precious energy? Do these projects speak to you on a soul level? The curtain is rising on the next act of your life...so make sure you're in the right scene, with the right players wearing the right costume. You may need to tweak your overall attitude-or at least the impression you're giving off. Maybe you don't realize just how domineering you're coming across, or that you're presenting a false front. No need to act like Little Miss Sunshine if your true self is having a blackout rage. Others can tell, no matter how good you think your poker face is.
Do some of your skills need a refresh? This is not the time to "fake it 'til you make it." Use this period to do a little investigative research, even to take a class or work with a mentor or coach. Perhaps there's a former colleague who can provide you with some helpful insight about the way you operate, or who can insightfully help plot your next best moves. If you're like some Scorpios who are told you come across as "intimidating" or unfriendly, maybe a little relaxing of the facial muscles...even (gasp) a smile, could make a difference. You know the saying: it takes only seven seconds to make a first impression-so turn that frown upside-down.
The month ends with a potentially dramatic reveal, as the March 27 Libra full moon sheds light on some previously concealed information. A hidden saboteur could be exposed around this date, someone you thought was one of your peeps. Or someone's words may shock you to the point of you misconstruing and thus overreacting to them. Be careful before you start pouring gasoline on a relationship and taking a lit match to it. Though revenge is your specialty-hell hath no fury like a betrayed Scorpio-beware of hitting the warpath, cutting people off and ending situations ruthlessly and rashly. If you temper your response, or just call a time-out when you're on the verge of reacting intensely, this may end up being salvageable after all.
