Libra monthly horoscope
February 2012

Libra
9/23 - 10/22
February is the month of love (though why it falls smack in the middle of winter, we'll never know), and the stars promise a romantic time for you. The Sun is in Aquarius, your passionate fifth house, steaming up the windows through February 19th. On the 7th, love-planet Venus (your ruler) enters Aries, your committed relationship sign. You could get that cliched-but-who-cares Valentine's Day proposal. If you're single, prepare to be struck by Cupid's arrow-you'll practically have to duck to prevent it.Not that you'll want to get swept off into la-la land-at least, not entirely. While your heart may be ticking double-time, you've learned a few harsh lessons about losing your head when in love. These come courtesy of stern Saturn, which has been in Libra since October 2009. Saturn's reality checks have been tough, but they've forced you to grow up. From February 7-June 25, Saturn is retrograde (backward), a time when you may need to do some serious self-reckoning. If you're willing to look at yourself objectively, and to not take feedback personally, you could get some of the best coaching of your life. We're all works in progress, and it takes real courage to self-examine. You can do it, Libra-so don't lose your confidence or cool.Self-care becomes a big priority now, too. On February 3rd, healing Neptune begins a 14-year visit to Pisces, your sixth house of health and fitness. Between now and 2026, you may revolutionize your approach to well-being. Many Libras are sugar addicts or struggle to find balance in your diet. Others, like Libras Gwyneth Paltrow and Alicia Silverstone, can get into strict macrobiotic, vegan and raw eating. This year, you may shift to a more holistic plan around food, sleep, exercise and overall fitness. Some Libras might even make a career switch in the coming years to a naturopathic or integrative health field. Stranger things have happened!
Love
The confusion around your love life is lifting for good. On February 3rd, raise your glass and bid adieu to karmic Neptune, which has been in Aquarius (your love sign) since 1998. You've had some serious highs and lows around romance for the past 14 years, and you may have idealized some undeserving folk. With Neptune's departure, you're better able to discern "shining armor" from shysters. In the past decade-plus, you've climbed aboard what you thought was a white horse, only to discover it was a donkey-and never mind the ass who came galloping in on it.Neptune is a healer and a teacher, but the kind that reflects an exaggerated glimpse of your own spiritual shortcomings, pushing you to grow. What have you learned about yourself in the past decade-plus? How has your emotional intelligence developed? We all come into this lifetime with a spiritual wound or two. With Neptune's well-intentioned nudging, hopefully you've started to repair those. Some people believe this is our primary purpose for walking the earth. On February 7th, love-planet Venus enters Aries, your seventh house of committed relationships. Venus brings harmony to your closest ties, and if you're single, you could attract someone with true partnership potential. But remember, even a soulmate can be repelled just as quickly as s/he's attracted if you don't do your inner work. With passionate Mars retrograde in your twelfth house of closure until mid-April, you may be struggling to let go of a difficult, even toxic, relationship. Perhaps it's not the person that's the problem-it's that you're resisting learning the bigger lesson. Where are you repeating an old pattern, even reenacting a struggle that you never completed? This would be a good time for therapy, healing, energy work, or any kind of deep-dive into your subconscious. Saturn's concurrent retrograde in Libra exposes where you may need to build more confidence or self-esteem. How are you presenting yourself, and is it an accurate portrayal of your best self? First impressions last the longest, and between now and June 25th, you may want to take a hard look at how you come across. Is your flashiness or smooth talk preventing people from seeing your real substance? Is a reserved demeanor throwing a veil over your vulnerability and passions? We all have a public persona, but if yours has become fake or a barrier to connecting, removing the mask could improve all of your relationships.
Health
A healing phase begins on February 3rd, when Neptune starts its 14-year journey through Pisces, your sixth house of health and fitness. Many Libras are already into nutrition, yoga and holistic living, but Neptune's presence emphasizes that even more. During this time, you may adopt a pet (who comes to you as a karmic messenger) or explore retreats, juicing, energy work and other prevention/longevity methods. The Pisces new moon is a great day to start any kind of exercise program or to revamp your diet.Don't neglect the need for mental, spiritual and emotional fitness, either. Energizer Mars is retrograde in your twelfth house of the subconscious until April 13th, a time when old skeletons could come back to haunt you. If this happens, it means that you've never properly dealt with those demons, and they're just emerging to show you where closure still needs to happen. Pay attention to your dreams, as you may have trouble sleeping during this period. Journaling before bed and having a good unwinding regimen is especially important.
Wealth
The way you work, and even what you do for a living, is about to undergo a long evolution. On February 3rd, healing Neptune begins a 14-year visit to Pisces, your sixth house of organization, service and health. With Neptune in Pisces, your career may become more about service to the planet. You might enter the wellness field (a growing industry), or work for a "green" and eco-conscious company. The February 21st Pisces new moon could activate this energy even more. Perhaps you'll lobby your company for more human policies, such as shutting down the email servers after 7:00 p.m., or allowing midday breaks for employees to go exercise. No, it's not the traditional way corporations roll, but it's 2012, after all.Could you stand to be more efficient? Some Libras are uber-organized, while others can be a scattered mess (we've seen both extremes-it's all about your sign's search for balance). If you're the messy type, remember that you may never become a filing, labeling and spreadsheet-ing fascist, but you can create beautiful systems for categorizing your various projects. You might even want to work with a creative organizational consultant (or a friend who's savvy at this). Many Librans are clothes-horses who treat their garments with extreme care. If that's you, apply the same rules of your closet to your workspace. Would you store that Chanel jacket on a (cue Joan Crawford)...wire hanger? Hell to the no! So why are you sending out an email with bad punctuation, or leaving the cap off your ink pens and a jumble of papers everywhere? On the other hand, if you're been rigid and denied your creative soul, Neptune in Pisces blows the lid off of that. It's time to honor your divine gifts. Take that painting class, voice lesson, fiction-writing intensive, whatever. Dr. Christiane Northrup, a Libra, balances out her work as a physician with a passion for tango. Grab a copy of Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way and start a journey to embrace your inner creative. One thing Libras are amazing at is networking, and a stellar meet-and-greet moment comes at the February 7th Leo full moon. This is also a great day to launch a website or to do anything that involves technology or a humanitarian effort. Careful how many cocktails you snatch off the passed hors d'ouevres tray, though. That same day, stern Saturn goes retrograde (backward) in Libra until June 25th. Your inner wild child will need some taming. You could have some clashes with authority figures, especially if you're the type who thinks that the rules don't apply to you. During this period, you'll need to do things by the book, disciplining yourself not to cut corners. Some Libras might want to work with a media coach, an image consultant, or take a public speaking class. Do whatever it takes to present your best self!
